Chilbolton Observatory Weather Web

This website displays live weather readings from the Chilbolton Facility for Atmospheric and Radio Research at Chilbolton in Hampshire.

Copernicus radar

The facility is run by the Chilbolton Group of the Space Science and Technology Department at the world-famous STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire.

The main facility at Chilbolton is the 25 metre fully steerable antenna. This impressive dish is used by the 3 GHz Doppler-Polarisation radar and the 1275MHz clear air radar. 94GHz and 35GHz cloud radars are located alongside the main dish. These radars make a powerful combination for studying cloud, ice and rain as it passes over Chilbolton. They are supported by a suite of meteorological instruments, cameras and lidars on the same site.
